You are invited to become an Associate member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama (WSA). An artist, or non-artist, may become an associate member by paying dues. WSA is not limited to residents of Alabama and has many members throughout the United States. WSA membership is open to anyone with an interest in watercolor, regardless of experience. We welcome beginners.
Membership runs from October 1 through September 30 of each year. An associate may join at any time during the year. Dues are $40.00 per fiscal year. Memberships not renewed by January 1 will expire.
Note: You will need to be current with your dues when you send entries for the WSA Annual National Exhibition, which occurs after 1 January of each year.

WSA is a non-profit organization organized in 1939 by a group of artists from Alabama. The purpose was to advance the art of water media painting. The Watercolor Society of Alabama has been a continuing and vibrant influence in advancing the art of watercolor painting and in contributing to the enrichment of the cultural environment of the citizens of the United States.

Membership Levels:
Associate: Extended to any individual paying annual dues. Associate members, in good standing, have the right to vote, hold office, and participate in WSA activities.
Juried: Extended to any individual whose work is juried into the Society’s annual national competition or has been juried into three WSA Members Shows. Juried Members, in good standing, have the right to vote, hold office, and participate in WSA activities. Juried members are required to pay annual dues to retain Juried status.
Signature: Awarded to Juried Members who earned a total of three points determined by the following system: 1 point per WSA National Exhibition acceptance; ½ a point per WSA Members Show acceptance, and must have been selected for and exhibited in at least one WSA National Exhibition. Signature Members are required to pay annual dues to retain Signature status.
Higher levels of Signature status are awarded for obtaining additional points and are required to pay annual dues to retain their status.
- Signature Bronze – 6 points
- Signature Silver – 9 points
- Signature Gold – 12 points
- Signature Platinum – 15 points.
Lifetime: Extended to any individual over 55 years of age on a one-time basis fee of $500.00 and has been a continuous paid member for the preceding 5 years.
